3 Days 2 Nights L.K Nakuru National Park Trip

Lake Nakuru National Park is a Kenyan park known for its stunning scenery and diverse wildlife, particularly its large flamingo populationThe park, located in the Great Rift Valley, features Lake Nakuru, surrounded by grasslands and woodlands, offering a variety of habitats. Besides the flamingos, visitors can spot rhinos (both black and white), giraffes, lions, and numerous other animals. 

This trip will enable you to get a closer views of the lake not forgetting the flamingos too and have an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park & Afternoon Game Drive

  • Morning: You’ll be picked up from your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
  • Journey to Lake Nakuru: Enjoy a scenic drive (approximately 2-3 hours) through the Great Rift Valley, with stops at viewpoints for breathtaking panoramas.
  • Arrival & Lunch: Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park, check into your chosen lodge or camp, and enjoy lunch.
  • Afternoon Game Drive: Embark on your first game drive in the park. Lake Nakuru is famous for its vast flamingo population (though their numbers can fluctuate depending on the lake’s conditions), but it’s also a designated rhino sanctuary, home to both black and white rhinos. You’ll also have the chance to spot Rothschild’s giraffes, lions, leopards, buffalo, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, and a wide array of other bird species (over 450 recorded).
  • Dinner & Overnight: Return to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Exploration of Lake Nakuru National Park

  • Morning Game Drive & Birding
  • : After an early breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive. This allows for extensive exploration of different areas of the park.
    • Flamingos and Birdwatching: Spend time near the lake’s shores, observing the incredible spectacle of flamingos. Look out for other water birds like pelicans, cormorants, and herons.
    • Rhino Sanctuary: Dedicate time to the rhino sanctuary, where you have a high chance of seeing these magnificent creatures up close.
    • Viewpoints: Visit iconic viewpoints like Baboon Cliff and Lion Hill, which offer panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding landscapes, perfect for photography. Baboon Cliff is also a great picnic spot
  • Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a packed picnic lunch amidst the wilderness.
  • Late Afternoon: Continue with your game drive, seeking out any animals you may have missed or focusing on specific species.
  • Dinner & Overnight: Return to your lodge/camp for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive & Departure to Nairobi

  • Early morning game drive: Enjoy one last early morning game drive to catch the animals at their most active, before the day gets too warm. This is often a good time to spot predators.
  • Breakfast: Return to your lodge/camp for breakfast.
  • Check-out & Departure: Check out from your accommodation and begin your drive back to Nairobi. Arrival in Nairobi: You’ll be dropped off at your preferred location in Nairobi (hotel or airport) in the afternoon.
